Years ago I gave up drinking soda and other sugar drinks. So when I first read Kaiser and First 5's book "Potter the Otter" I loved the message teaching kids how important it is to be careful drinking too much sugar. I recently had an amazing group of dedicated students who loved working in the style of children's book illustrators, so I convinced them to help me adapt the Potter book. We moved Potter to the ocean and created a new cast of friends for the busy little otter to teach as he spreads the news about drinking water.

Great for all agesWhen teens take on an important message for kids, its awesome to see them put their world into it as they embrace the responsibility. I even was able to get a few of the artists involved in the project to visit a local elementary school and read the book aloud to kids as we donated the book to their class.

beyond proud! These amazing students took the opportunity to create their own children's book with such drive, it left me in awe. I am humbled by their dedication, drive, and teamwork, and feel so lucky I get the chance to watch this kind of thing come to be.
We want to thank the Willow Glen Foundation for their generous help to get this project printed. Please visit their site and learn about all they do to help the arts flourish at Willow Glen.
